I did it! I went kayaking for the first time this morning! I went with my friend, Eileen. It was a 3 hour trip out a mile and up the coast a ways and back. I was so proud of myself for being able to paddle almost the entire time without stopping. I only stopped when we stopped after the mile to look at the sea lions for a couple of minutes. And there were a few swells out there today. It was really foggy, but I still managed to get sunburned on my face. I wore Eileen out because I was in the front and, therefore, the pace setter. I paddled much faster than one should. I'm not used to it, though, and had to keep reminding myself to take longer strokes and use my back more than my arms. My shoulders were burning quite a bit. I lift weights but not a lot of shoulder weights and not a repetitive motion for that long. Unfortunately, we didn't get a whale sighting today. This past week, there have been sightings of gray whales, orcas, and a humpback in the bay.

It was really fun! [info]viczaesar: you're coming out with me when you move back. It's so cool to be out there with the sea otters and sea lions and seals and JELLYFISH!!!

I'd like to start going once a month.

I've never seen a whale when I've been on whaling sighting tour...I wanted my money back. I saw heaps of dolphins though!

Sea otters are so cute. =)

It is imprssive that you didn't flip over. I went kyakiing with my friend and he couldn't stop flipping over. He determined that kyak is eskimo for evil. I am impressed at the non-stop paddling and the distance you covered. and I must Say I am quite jelous that you have weather that allows you to do that. It snowed out here yesterday. It was flurries but still making it uncomfrotable.

I look forward to reading more stories of your kyaking adventures.

How fun! I've always wanted to go kayaking. I've done canoeing and paddleboating and sailing too, but not that. Seeing all the wildlife must have been awesome!

You're lucky you had great weather. We had a white Easter. Snow on the ground, 34 degrees.
